The Centre supports the transformation of Uganda into a sustainable knowledge society on national, sectoral, organizational and citizen´s level through advancing and implementing the Global Agenda Knowledge for development and Knowledge Agenda for Uganda; advancing knowledge sciences and innovations through multi-disciplinary research on the key challenges of the knowledge ecosystem; undertaking and strengthening education and training of generations of knowledge managers and workers; promoting multi-stakeholder partnerships and professional knowledge management in organisations aimed at improving competences and practices in knowledge management; facilitating sectoral and national Knowledge Management programs; hosting the Uganda Knowledge for Development Partnership to promote better knowledge sharing and collaboration; strengthening knowledge institutions, and fostering the culture of knowledge for the achievement of happy knowledgeable citizens and knowledge-driven competitive organisations in Uganda.

Mission: To enable Uganda to transform into a Sustainable Knowledge Society.

Vision: To be the benchmark for research, education and training, consultancy, advisory and community outreach services in Knowledge Management and Knowledge-based Development at the highest international level.

The MUBS-K4D Centre is spearheading the implementation of the Knowledge Agenda for Uganda first by strengthening Knowledge Management in the Public Administration of Uganda (KM4PAdU). Competences and practices in Knowledge Management will help the Government of Uganda to have all the knowledge and information needed to provide public services efficiently. Therefore, with this capacity development in Knowledge Management, public administrators can then become role models in the transformation of Uganda into a sustainable knowledge society as a whole.

The Islamic Development Bank with the support of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development has approved a grant to the MUBS-K4D Centre for the purpose of developing a Knowledge Management Strategy for Public Administration. It will also provide an educational and training component in Knowledge Management to focal points of Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs) and other relevant public institutions. A total of 40 MDAs have been selected to participate in the project which will commence on February 28, 2023 with an official launch and end in June 2023.
